Our Story

Imbha was established in response to the massive demand for affordable rental accommodation in Urban centres. 

 

Our main objective is to provide relief to the affordable rental housing shortage by leveraging our proprietary technology, providing an end-to-end housing solution from construction to rental management. We specifically focus on the “gap market” of households whose monthly earnings fall between the amount needed to qualify for government-subsidised housing (Less than R3 500) and that required for a mortgage loan to buy a house in the private sector (more than R15 000).

We are part of a small group of developers with the ability to deliver rental accommodation to the gap market at the necessitated price point. As a result, the largest rental market in South Africa is primarily represented by the informal backyard rental market in township communities. 

 

These informal backyard rentals account for 35% of all rentals in South Africa. We are changing this. 

Over 2.3 million housing backlogs

We understand the importance of effective leasing and property management and hence we developed a property management and leasing platform, IndluLiving, which is tailored for month-to-month gap market rentals.
